The FCFCA would like to remind everyone that this Sunday 3-12-17 when you change your clocks to change your smoke detector batteries. If you need a new smoke detector check with your local fire department to see if they can help you out.

The March 28th 2017 FCFCA meeting will be held at Franklin County DES at 7pm and at the beginning of the meeting there will be an overview of the new CAD system. There will also be time if you have any questions you want answered on the new CAD.

Facilitator training has been scheduled for March 9th, from 1800-2100 hours.  This is a refresher training for all current facilitators and initial training for anyone who is interested in becoming a facilitator.  FCPSTC facilitators serve as the on-site representatives of the training center during live fire / smoke training and any other approved company level training activities. This representative shall serve as the liaison between the Franklin County Public Safety Training Center, instructors, and company officers during the training activities. The facilitator shall be responsible for opening / closing the training grounds, inspection of the burn building, providing FCPSTC safety briefing and orientation, conducting pre-burn checklists and building walk-through with lead burn instructor prior to all live fire evolutions, observing and recording thermal monitoring system during live fire evolutions, operating the air cascade system, tractor, pumper, and other FCPSTC equipment. Facilitators are also responsible for monitoring training activities to ensure compliance with NFPA guidelines as well as FCPSTC and FCFCA policies. After the training activity, facilitators are responsible for ensuring the facility is returned to a ready to train status, including returning and securing all equipment, inspecting the facility and equipment for damage, completed facilitator paperwork, and securing the facility. FCPSTC facilitators are typically paid a stipend, however volunteer facilitators are also used when available.  Register at if you are interested in participating in the training.  There is no cost to attend and no obligation to serve as a facilitator.   Facilitator qualifications include the following: 21 YOA or older, Pumps I, EVOC, FF-1 (or equivalent training) and completion of the facilitator training.  Questions regarding facilitator training, qualifications, responsibilities, etc. should be directed to training coordinator Bill Adams (
